RAG: Beyond The Basics

Details

"More AI workshops!"

We heard your feedback — and here we are with the next one.

21 lines of code

That's all you need to copy-paste from a LangChain tutorial to think that you have a working RAG, or "talk-to-your-documents" application. But do you really? We will spin up such an application, then prove in many ways that it doesn't really work all that well. Then, we will fix it. A structured mixture of theory, bug-hunting, coding, and discussion — starting with the basics, then gradually diving into more nuanced challenges.

You can follow along on your own laptop (highly recommended), or lean back and watch it unfold. For those who decide to dig in, detailed setup instructions can be found here: https://github.com/hosmanadam/rag-beyond-the-basics

We expect that you will walk away with an improved understanding of what goes on in such a system and what it takes to get it to perform as expected.

This is for you if...

  1. You enjoy learning by doing with others
  2. You're intrigued by GenAI and use it daily
  3. You understand programming fundamentals
  4. You're not scared of a little Python code
  5. It helps if you've heard about RAG, but we'll repeat the basics to start
