Hiking Winter Hill’s Literary Landscapes, to the wind in the willows.
Details
Our journey starts in Maidenhead, where we join a beautiful segment of the Thames Path, where we are greeted by the hanging beech woods of the Cliveden Estate, casting a picturesque backdrop across the river.
The path turns through the charming village of Cookham and continues through Cookham Rise, to arrive at the Quary Wood nature reserve, offering commanding vistas of the Thames Valley
Our trail ascends Winter Hill, a place that inspired author Kenneth Grahame as he envisioned the riverbanks and woodlands as the home of beloved characters Mole and Ratty in "The Wind in the Willows."
We follow the escarpment to reach Cookham, where you have the option to join us for a refreshing drink or catch a train for your journey home. This scenic adventure promises a delightful exploration of nature's beauty and literary inspiration.
