When the pandemic hit, there was an explosion of activity at our local parks. Regular hikers likely have seen a tremendous increase in activity at the parks, extra wear and tear and trash. So much trash!

Tens of thousands of pounds of trash have been removed by the park staff in 2021 alone! Every time I kayak I pull as much trash from the rivers as possible and during a typical season I'll fill up the bed of my pickup truck.

Time to give back to the parks we enjoy and love. Come out and clean up some trash and enjoy a lunch afterwards.

We will clean as much trash as we can starting from the parking lot at Belair Rd towards pot rocks. The park will provide trash bags and have a tractor on hand to pull full bags out of the woods. We will also have some loppers for anyone that wants to trim back thorns.

Bring gloves, clothes you don't mind getting dirty and wet.

After picking up trash we will go to lunch at a local restaurant, most likely Gunpowder Lodge - my treat, just don't go crazy and order surf n turf or anything that says market price haha. It's happened before! :)
