What we’re about
Recovery International helps people who experience anxiety, depression, stress and the trivial occurrences of everyday life.
Recovery International is a peer led, non-sectarian non for profit organization founded by the Austrian born psychiatrist Dr. Abraham Low who founded Recovery International in 1937.
RI is today headquartered in Oak Brook Illinois where Dr. Low founded the 4 Step Format and wrote many books including "Manage Your Fears, Manage Your Anger" where he taught psychiatry at the University of Illinois.
RI Group telephone, chat, in-person, and internet based meetings are scheduled daily, last for 60 minutes and are open to newcomers on Meetup.com, by word of mouth and to our members.
There are over 600 weekly RI meetings worldwide, in the United States, Canada, Ireland and India.
At the meetings, members learn and practice tools or "spots" to help alleviate the symptoms from those simple trivialities of daily life.
We also offer two meetings in Spanish and one meeting in Japanese each week.
A free will offering is suggested at each meeting to support Recovery International.
The suggested donation is $8.00 per meeting.
All free will offerings, donations and contributions are tax deductible.
The 4 Step Example Format and "spots" use cognitive behavioral self help therapy techniques that work to promote good mental health.
