*DATE CHANGE* Chicken Culling & Processing Workshop
Details
**Note the date change! This workshop moved to the same time, Saturday NOV. 16th!***
Come learn the hands-on homesteading art of processing chickens for meat. This is not everyone’s favorite activity, yet it’s an essential aspect of participating in homesteading life and the living systems that sustain us.
Participants will practice humane homestead methods that are sanitary and efficient for taking the birds all the way through to being ready to eat. We will also touch on how to respectfully and ritually harvest the animals whose lives are so much a part of our own.
$20 suggested donation (none turned away) and you get to take a bird home at the end. Please bring cash, or pay using PayPal (includes credit/debit payment options).
This workshop will last 1-2 hours depending on how efficient we are with the process, and how much time is needed for questions. Limited to 8 individuals or households (based on number of birds we have available).
Note: The Winter Four Seasons Gardening workshop immediately precedes this event. Refreshments will be served around 2pm for folks staying for both workshops. Feel free to arrive anytime between 2 and 2:30pm to get settled in for the chicken workshop.
