Meet in the parking lot, near the trail. Bring a helmet and water.
If you are not yet a member, you can join us on this ride by starting a 30 day trial membership. The $20 annual dues are not required during the trial membership period. Give us a try and see how fun it is to ride with us. The dues go towards the cost of the meetup.com resources. It isn't free. Event hosts often send updates to the attendees, and if you configured your privacy to dis-allow messages, you miss notifications about road closures and alternate routes to the trailhead.
This is our monthly "tourist" ride. We will stop at every mission and other historical site and Frank will talk about the significance of what happened at this site.
Most of the route will be on the Mission Reach multi-use paved walkway which is about 8 ft wide. There are some hills - maybe challenging for new riders but not really a big challenge. It is a very pretty ride down the river and back. There will be a few spots where we ride on roadways, but they will have very light traffic. We will be riding an average of about 11.5 MPH. Please advise one of the ride leaders (David Canada, Frank Fitzpatrick) if the speed is a problem for you. We will slow down the ride if needed. This ride is approximately 19 miles, although with the stops, most ride segments will be 3 - 4 miles. There are some locations along the ride where it is an easy ride back to our starting point if the distance is too challenging. Please talk to the ride leaders (Frank, Dave, Ricci) if you are dropping out. We keep track of our riders. We can provide an escort if turning back is needed but uncomfortable.
We will start from Roosevelt Park and head south stopping at Mission Concepcion, Mission San Jose, Espada Aqueduct, Mission Espada, Mission San Juan, and the Hot Wells Resort ruins. This ride might run a bit longer than 2.5 hours.
Please change your RSVP to "NO" if you decide not to go. Folks should not have to wait for you if you are not going. If you're more than 5 min. late and haven't messaged us to wait, you'll have to catch up!
Please be sure your bike is in good repair, use a helmet, bring water, and use sunblock, if needed.
