RIDE FROM MCALLISTER PARK
Details
If you are not yet a member, you can join us on this ride by starting a 30 day trial membership. The $20 annual dues are not required during the trial membership period. Give us a try and see how fun it is to ride with us. The dues go towards the cost of the meetup.com resources. It isn't free. Event hosts often send updates to the attendees, and if you configured your privacy to dis-allow messages, you miss notifications about road closures and alternate routes to the trailhead.
Don't forget a helmet and water.
Please cancel your rsvp if you don't go for any reason.
From McAllister Park, we have some flexibility about which way to ride the trail. We will decide at the trailhead. Personally I favor I a ride up to Eisenhower Park Trailhead and return (only because I favor having the majority of the return ride downhill). But I have no objection to going the other way with the boardwalk, and down past Los Patios. We could even stop by a very old Oak tree adjacent to Ladybird Park.
Our group tends to be older than the majority of bicyclists, but fit for our age. On this specific route, we usually average around 12 MPH. We will slow down if we have riders that are challenged at that speed (within reason - if you have trouble with a 10 MPH average, talk to Frank, Dave or Ricci). We prefer to ride single file, with a minimum of 2 bike lengths between riders. This is for everyone's safety. Our only injuries have occurred because riders were too close when one had to react to something unexpected. Since we are an older group, we don't "bounce" as well as we used to.
Please be sure your bike is in good repair, use a helmet, bring water, and use sunblock if needed.
Some of us may get together after the ride for lunch at a restaurant that has patio dining.
Every 2nd Saturday of the month until March 27, 2025
