What we’re about
The Greenwich Acoustic Music Circle (GAMC) is a monthly play/sing along jam for those interested in playing and singing acoustic rock. We welcome people at INTERMEDIATE levels of ability. Bring one PRE-1980's song and one POST-1980's song, in this way, we are not a traditional "folk music" circle. About half way through the evening, we take a break to eat/drink/mingle.It's simply an evening of sharing great songs with others in a friendly and supportive environment.
How it works:
We limit each Meetup to 14 participants, plus the two organizers, to assure a more intimate group where we are able to hear each other play and sing. Also, to reinforce the idea of a consistent group of participants, those who have attended 3 out of the 4 last Meetups will receive an e-mail notifying them when the next Meetup will be posted. Unfortunately, this approach creates a situation where demand exceeds supply, clearly indicating the need for another Music Circle in this area.
We go around in a circle and every person has an opportunity to lead, at least one song, though usually we get to two go rounds. Please look at the number of RSVPs, and bring enough copies of your chords/lyrics to pass around to the group. Again, please bring one PRE-1980's song and one POST-1980's song. About half way through the evening, we take a break to eat/drink/mingle.
What kinds of music do you play?
Acoustic rock, contemporary, alternative/indie.
What do I need to bring?:
Mostly you just need to bring your instrument and/or voice and copies of your music, but many people like to bring a music stand, and/or instrument stand.
