The Musée de la Résistance et de la Déportation de l'Isère
Details
=== Summary ===
Revisit to one of Grenoble's most important museums: A testament to "The Maquis": The Guerilla resistance fighter cells based in Isere/Grenoble-area, who fought the occupation of the German Third Reich (and their stooges/proxies here in occupied "Vichy France"), most of whom payed the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
If you are new to Grenoble, or living in France, and have only ever studied WWII or The Holocaust, this is a museum that will add perspective, highlighting the Grenoble/Isere region's contributions to the resistance.
=== Agenda ===
-> Meet from 13:00 to 13:15 to queue and warm up (or cool down) with a coffee or chai latte.
-> At 13:15, we will walk over to the Museum (approximately 10 minutes walk, maximum)
=== About the Museum ===
The museum is free (Gratuite), but you should buy something from the gift shop or make a mini donation in the collections box.
"The Musée de la Résistance et de la Déportation de l’Isère is a museum located in Grenoble, France. The original museum, which opened in 1966 in the Rue Jean Jacques Rousseau, was dedicated to local resistance networks and named the Musée de la Résistance Dauphinoise."
This museum pays homage to many brave souls who gave the ultimate sacrifice to resist the Nazi occupation of Vichy France during WWII.
Be warned: This is not a jovial experience. The Musée environment itself is quite somber as the subject matter it covers; to that end, please behave respectfully while inside the museum.
The museum is documented partially in French, but also parts are translated in German and English.
