== Synopsis ==

New to Grenoble? Trying to learn about the local history & culture? Looking to beat the heat in Grenoble?

This is the place to learn (and cool down!)

Located in a former convent of Sainte-Marie d’en-Haut (dating back to 1600s), this museum features temporary/seasonal, as well as permanent exhibits regarding the region:

  1. Basement: Chapel of Sainte-Marie d’en-Bas
  2. Ground Floor, Cloister & 1st & 2nd floors: Seasonal Exhibits
  3. 3rd Floor: Prehistoric nomadic tribes, or Gens de l'alpe ("Alpine People"), for example, the region of Queyras, that settled in this region and thrived in spite of the challenges of the geography
  4. 4th Floor: Permanent: The ski industry and the 1968 Winter Olympics held in Grenoble.

Weather permitting, hopefully we can enjoy some of the outdoor garden space as well; feel free to bring light fare for a team-time picnic.

A photography Exhibit:

"Jacques Henri Lartigue's gaze spans the 20th century . Born into a wealthy family, he took advantage of the benefits of his condition to travel the world throughout his life. It was his love of sport that led him to discover the Alps at the time of the first ski resorts of Saint-Moritz and Chamonix on the eve of the First World War. He was not yet twenty years old. Photographing the personalities of the time that his social life brought him into contact with, he was particularly attached to portraits of his close friends, to whom he devoted large series.
