We are dedicated to creating a supportive atmosphere where participants feel safe enough to fully express themselves free from the fear of judgement, where every contribution & voice is valued equally and where listening to & supporting one another is favoured over individual one-upmanship. We don’t distinguish between performer & audience, musician & non-musician, participant & non-participant and there is no stage or hierarchy. Just one unified circle.
With this in mind, we are aware that not all instruments & voices are created equal, with some more dominant than others so encourage jammers to be aware of the presence of their contribution and to tune in to the collective sound rather than one’s own in isolation. If we all do this, everyone has the opportunity to be heard and that’s when the magic truly happens!PLEASE NOTE: To best cultivate this balance & also bring greater alignment with Akasa's noise policy, we have made the tough decision to ask jammers to leave your percussion instruments at home & only use the percussion instruments provided by FJJ. We hope you understand.
A FEW OTHER GUIDELINES
- Phone use
Please keep to a minimum. We have an official photographer capturing all the magic so you can focus on all the fun things going on in front of you!
2. No drugs or alcoholThese jams are a conscious practice that encourage presence
3. Community valuesWe ask jammers to uphold our community values of inclusivity, kindness & respect for ourselves & our fellow jammers
4. VeganismPlease respect this vegan event by not bringing any animal products into the venue
