WHAT WE NEED: Annually during Christmas time, Happy Helpers gives out hundreds and hundreds of backpacks filled with essential food, supplies and gifts to the homeless and those in need. Due to generous donors, we have the food, supplies and gifts covered but we still need approximately 150 new or gently used (no rips, holes or stains) adult backpacks by the end of November. Please help if you can.
Happy Helpers for the Homeless was started by ten year old, Amber Coffman, over 30 years ago, after she realized that her life's purpose was to serve the poorest of the poor. Over the years, countless schools, businesses, churches, groups, and individuals have gotten involved. Amber and Happy Helpers has been covered numerous times by local and even national media including The Today Show, the Washington Post and Parade Magazine.
Happy Helpers for the Homeless has been feeding and taking care of Baltimore's homeless for over 30 years. Happy Helpers is an all-volunteer organization and a registered 501(c)(3). Happy Helpers brings love and necessities directly to homeless and poverty-stricken men, women, and children. Its continuing outreach has been a beacon of hope, offering critical support to men, women, and children in need. Many of those in need face ongoing health challenges, and Happy Helper's continued presence is vital in ensuring they have the basic necessities to get through the month.
Dedicated individuals give their time, energy, and compassion to ensure that everyone who came to not us only received essential supplies but also felt a sense of love and care. Over 25,000 people have volunteered over the past 30 years. Happy Helpers served their Millionth Sandwich for the Homeless in 2020.
Happy Helper's MISSION: To provide food, toiletries, and clothing with compassion and a smile; to spread our belief that if all those able get involved, the human tragedy of homelessness will be solved.
