Details
The main entrance to the park is closing due to resurfacing the road. Go past the main entrance and turn right on the gravel road (Sauk Trail Road) then take the first right to the Pucketts Pond parking lot. Hiking will start promptly at 10:00 Please arrive 15 minutes before start time to use restrooms and to get organized.
If you miss the 10:00 start time, wait at the east side of pucketts pond parking lot as we will be coming off the grasslands trail at 10:15 and will pick up strays at that point. Check the comments early am if weather is a factor. If thunderstorms are in-the area we will not hike. Rain, depends on severity.
This will be a 4 to 5 mile hike walking grasslands, wooded trails, some paved roads, beaches, wooden bridges and SWAMPY areas. Brisk walking speed is encouraged. Hiking boots are preferred as we are in swamps. We will have 15 minute break at the beach to roam, take in the sights, mingle and photograph the incredible view. There are no hills but not suitable for a beginner due to the length and pace. Long pants and hiking boots are recommended. Bug spray, sunscreen, hats and water will make this more enjoyable.
As the seasons turn expect to see an amazing array of wildflowers, wildlife and spectacular scenery.
This hike is free. It is a state park so you will need a sticker or purchase a day pass. Free will offerings are gratefully accepted by the host to offset meet up costs.
This hike will be posted as the weather allows safe hiking conditions Dates will be posted on meetup.
It’s a beautiful park but it needs our help. Please check out our upcoming events for tree planting, beach cleanup and upcoming activities.
