Maybe you’ve heard of some of Maryland’s most notorious crimes, such as the conspiracy to assassinate Abraham Lincoln or the murder of Sister Cathy, subject of the popular Netflix series, The Keepers. But what about some of its lesser-known misdeeds? Join us for a discussion of some of these shady characters and unfortunate episodes. You’ll hear about the only known case of burking in North America. You'll find out about a promising career in public service dashed on the rocks of family annihilation and about a nineteenth-century "friendship" gone awry. Presented by Caprice Di Liello and Lisa Greenhouse of the State Library Resource Center.

Two-time Eclipse Award winning writer and Harford County resident, Josh Pons will share his latest literary gem "Letters From Country Life Adolphe Pons, Man o’ War and the Founding of Maryland’s Oldest Thoroughbred Farm." An epic story set against the backdrop of World War I, the Great Depression, and World War II, "Letters From A Country Life" is a fresh look at the Golden Age of Horse Racing and how the past influences our present. Drawing upon his popular BloodHorse magazine column, Mr. Pons invites readers along as he unearths the voices of Gilded Age tycoons through letters, telegrams, and never-before-seen photos. Bring along your copy of "Letters From a County Life" for the author to sign.

Unwind with a gentler-paced yoga including a combination of meditation and pranayama (breath work), along with seated and standing postures. A chair can be used to accommodate mobility needs.
