What we’re about
The Heartland Chapter is one of 19 chapters for the Florida Trail Association. The FTA is a volunteer group that maintains the Florida National Scenic Trail, a 1500 mile thru hiking trail from Big Cypress to the Panhandle. The Heartland Chapter is responsible for the maintenance of the trail in Polk, Highlands, Hardee and Desoto counties. We also maintain several loop trails throughout Polk County. Visit us at www.HeartlandFTA.org for more information about our chapter. Or go to www.floridatrail.org to learn more about the Florida Trail Association.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Becoming a member of this Meetup group is not to be assumed as becoming a member in the Florida Trail Association (FTA). FTA membership information is available at https://www.floridatrail.org/make-a-difference/become-a-member/.

Come out and work with Heartland Chapter members as we maintain the Florida National Scenic Trail - KICCO section. This is a multi-day event where we will camp Sunday - Wednesday at the Town of KICCO primitive campsite. We will work the 12 miles of trial starting Sunday afternoon after we set up camp.
This is a primitive campsite with no facilities. A pot-a-potty type facility will be provided.
We will be providing all meals for Sunday evening - Wednesday morning.
I will need to know if you plan to camp with us for meal planning purposes. Monday will be the busiest day of trail maintenance if you are coming for the day.
Any individual interested in camping will need to register for a free camping permit. To register please visit the SFWMD site at: https://secure.rzda.net/sfwmd/list.cfm
