Snowshoeing: End of Year Night-time Snowshoe - 3-4 miles (Overnight, Yurts)

Details

Let's celebrate the New Year by doing a nighttime snowshoe in the Santiam Pass area and staying overnight in the Yurts at Tumalo State Park.

It is limited to 10 members. I have reserved two Yurts that can sleep five people each.

**** More are welcome, but they must arrange their accommodations or drive back the same night.

Who:

This event is open to all members. It is considered an easy to moderate snowshoe event, so please know your abilities.

What:

  • We will snowshoe 3 to 4 miles with some elevation gain and loss starting at the Santiam Pass snopark. I have reserved the Yurts (with heat) at Tumalo State Park for 12/31 and 1/1/2025.
  • We can check out Sisters and Bend on New Year's Day or snowshoe a second day.
  • You can either head back home on Wednesday, 1/1, in the evening or stay the second night in the Yurts.

When:

Tuesday, December 31st at noon, back by Thursday, 1/2 at noon*

*Those who cannot stay a second night are welcome to drive and head back later in the day on 1/1. The cost for the yurts is the same whether you stay one night or two.

Where:

Santiam Pass snopark.

Why:

If you've never snowshoed at night, you need to.

## Costs:

  • If you ride with someone, the carpooling cost is $40 roundtrip (paid to the driver)
  • The cost to stay in the Yurts is $30 total (one or two nights)
  • Drivers will need a snopark pass.

Other Details:

  • Carpooling will be figured out when we get closer to the event.
  • The yurts have heat and beds. Bring your own bedding (or a sleeping bag).
  • There are hot showers.
