Movie night: A Holy Family
Details
Join us for another movie at an amazing outdoor location!
Welcome back to Hey Taipei Movie Night at M-Club! The venue is located along the river and has great views of the 101 and the airplanes at Songshan. The club hosts parties on the weekend but offers a relaxing atmosphere on weekdays. Perfect for a film!
This evening we will enjoy the Taiwanese documentary A Holy Family (神人之家). It tells the story of the director's return to rural Taiwan, after living overseas for a long time and being estranged from his family. "This movie is an intimate journey of homecoming, a portrait of family bonding despite differences in religious beliefs, and an tale of self-discovery through filmmaking". It won numerous awards, like the Taiwan International Documentary Festival and the Hong Kong International Film Festival in 2024, the Golden Horse Awards (2022) and the Taipei Film Awards (2022).
The movie is in Mandarin and we will screen it with English subtitles.
Everyone is welcome at M-club at 7PM. I will be there to welcome you. We will start the film at 7.30 and finish around 9.30PM (one 10-minute break halfway). After the film you are welcome to stay for another drink and chat about the film with the other movie lovers if you like!
Entrance is free! We do ask everyone to buy a minimum of one drink.
- The venue is outdoors, but covered in case of rain so not to worry. Do wear some mosquito repellent and make sure you bring some warmer clothes as winter is approaching.
- This is a free, informal event organized by volunteers. You yourself are responsible for your own participation and wellbeing.
- Be friendly and make everyone feel welcome.
- Can't make it? Remove your name from the attendance list at least a day before. M-Club opens especially for us, so be considerate and show up when you sign up.
M-Club is easy to reach per MRT (Jiannan Rd Station), several bus lines and by YouBike or scooter. You can also park next to the club if you're driving. Check Google maps for your personal travel plan!
If you like walking I recommend walking there from Yuanshan, which is a nice path along the river and will take you about 50 minutes.
See you then and there!
