Enjoy a gorgeous Tuscan countryside estate on a Sunday afternoon, for wine and/or lunch with your Hiking friends. Consider this a “Friendsgiving gathering” on the Sunday before the special holiday with your family. And +ones are invited. ￼

Monserate winery has built $40 million worth of buildings in the last two years. It is only 25 minutes north of Rancho Bernardo and well worth the visit!

Carpools will be encouraged and please place a comment in the thread if interested in riding or driving. Popular meeting spots can be the FedEx parking lot of the Rancho Bernardo Road exit, or parking on the south side of Bj’s restaurant near Westfield mall in Escondido. ￼

Plus ones are welcome, but please add to your RSVP count. I am not collecting Venmo or doing a max on guest list. I just ask you to update your RSVP. ￼￼

Outside food is not allowed, but if you have something small and out of view, that should be fine. However, I do encourage you to try their Sicilian baked pizzas or any of the lunch or snack items offered.

Arrive at the winery at 1:00 PM, and meet us in the tasting room where we will hang out for at least the first 30 minutes, … then afterward, we will move about the property. Depending on the size of the group, we may not all be able to sit at the same table. They do take reservations for multiple outside tables, once you are all on site. FYI, we will not be eating in the inside restaurant, only the outside landscaped grounds. ￼

Wine tasting for six samples and lunch often takes 2 1/2 hours when you’re having fun with a group. The price of their wine samples or glasses is less than the cost at Orfila Winery and the wine is delicious.

If interested, be sure to ask your server about memberships and you can get your entire wine tasting cost for free (after u sample all). Essentially, it is retroactive if you decide to become a member for the cost of just two bottles. You can drop the membership afterwards if you choose not to continue. ￼I am a member, and I can explain more when I see you. However, this day is just about friendship & camaraderie and not necessarily about you joining the winery. I just like to mention it for those who do like to be part of a wine club. It’s been a great destination for me 1-2X a month. ￼
