Join me for a stunning hike through the ancient oak woodlands, the meeting place of the East Lyn River and Hoar Oak Water. We will hike though the woodland past the dramatic river gorge whereupon we pick up the South West coastal path which takes us down to the famous village of Lynmouth, scene of the devastating flood of 1952. This is the perfect place to buy and ice cream and have a short rest before we take the cliff railway (optional) up to the village of Lynton. We will then make our way round the the Valley of the rocks where we will have our picnic lunch. Our return leg will be across the edge of Exmoor following the Tarka trail. This hike is extremely hilly and has over 4000ft of ascent and decent. There will be a shorter walk on the Sunday for those who would like to join in. Please ensure you have a good level of fitness and have plenty of food and water. Please also bring full wet weather gear and please do not wear jeans.

I will book a camping pitch on Friday and Saturday night at Lynmouth holiday retreat. The address is: Manor farm, Lynton, Devon, England, EX35 6LD. £52 per pitch (2024 price). We will start the walk from the campsite.
