**NO DOGS this hike. A perfect first time hike.**

**Ball Ranch has been reopened after a face life. It now offers a cleared fallen tree-lined trail from its new parking lot off Friant Rd. The cars are protected by a bait store worker acting as a security guard keeping watch over the vehicles. It's lovely.**

**WEATHER:** High of 62 degrees with full winter sun

**Elevation Gain: Zero**

**GENERAL INFORMATION:**
Ball Ranch can be reached from Friant Rd, There is a sign on the North side of Friant Rd. The turn lane is the next turn after the Cemex Concrete plant.
We will start at the parking lot and walk by the new play maze made of wood chips, stones and fallen trees to resemble the park's mascot, the egret.
After walking the maze we will head up the trail to the bridge - about 1.5 miles. The bridge is now unavailable to cross, so at that point we can turn around, go back the way we came, or complete a loop to the parking area, or some can go with Daniel to walk the fence line adding a cool abate more challenging hike adding another half mile.
A total of 3 - 4 easy miles.

**MEETING:** Parking lot at Ball Ranch
**WHO CAN GO:** Those who can walk at least a slow leisurely 3.5 miles on a good trail.
**SUGGESTED GEAR/SUPPLIES:** Dress for winter. Running/walking shoes or boots, comfortable warm clothes, water, snacks, the ten essentials.
**REMINDER:** You are signing up for a social outing, not a guided tour. None of the organizers are experts or professional guides, and no hikers can expect to receive a professional level of intervention on our events. You are expected to understand the risks inherent in any outdoor activity in the wilderness and be prepared to mitigate them on your own behalf. This includes, hikes appropriate to your level of fitness and experience and communicate openly with the group you are with at all times. Your RSVP is your agreement that you are participating at your own risk and hold harmless all members of the group including the organizers.
**NO SHOWS:** Remember to keep your reservation up-to-date so you don’t get marked as a no-show. It’s polite to remove yourself from the Going list so we don’t wait for you.
