Alum Rock North and South Rim Trails (≈ 12 miles, 2.2k ft. elev. gain)
Details
Founded in 1872, it is the oldest municipal park in California. Located in a valley in the Diablo Range foothills on the east side of San Jose, the 720 acre park offers 13 miles of trails, varying from fairly level along Penitencia Creek to sharp switchbacks climbing to the ridges of the North Rim and South Rim Trails.
Join us for a hike along two trails on opposite sides of Alum Rock Park. This is a moderately challenging hike with lots of switchbacks as well as some steep climbs, but the views are well worth it! The route is about 50/50 shady and exposed.
