Stokes - Sunrise Point 7+ miles!

DESCRIPTION: Moderate-to-strenuous 7+ miles, about 1200 ft total elevation gain. First mile has a moderate climb to the Appalachian Trail, followed by a gentler climb north to Sunrise Point over the next 3 miles. We will return via the Appalachian, Tinsley & Swenson Trails. This hike is not suitable for beginners due to length. Let's meet at the Stony Lake Parking Lot (https://goo.gl/maps/mF6Kk4PFsoaCdqaf8) about 10 minutes ahead for departure at 10 am! IMPORTANT: Memorial day through Labor day there is a park admission fee of about $5. Admission is free with a NJ senior pass which is issued on the spot at the booth. All other times entrance to the park is free.

Bring plenty of water and snacks, and appropriate seasonal items (sun- and insect-protection in summer, and crampons in winter). Day-of-hike phone: 973-704-7362.
**Note** We hike at a moderate pace, and never leave anyone behind. Our hikes are not suitable for fast hikers who like to forge ahead of the group.
