The plan. Hike to the summit of Telescope peak, take pictures, more pictures, eat lunch then return on the same trail. The hike itself is approximately 12.5 mile, with 3,250 ft elev gain/loss. Not an easy hike. There are two other peaks close by, Bennett peak ( 9931 ft ) and Roger’s peak ( 9990 ft) . These are optional. I don’t plan on bagging them, but that might change. What to expect, the views from the peak are second to none. Hence the name, Telescope peak. There are also, ancient Bristlecone pines. Plus the other flora and fauna of the area. This is not an easy hike, know your limitations . I don’t plan on racing to the top and racing back down, if this is you, don’t sign up. We try to stay together for the camaraderie and safety. This doesn’t always work. If your faster, that’s ok. As long as you keep the group in sight. Conversely, if you’re slower, you might be hiking alone, or you can turn back if it’s safe.

I plan on car camping Saturday and Sunday night. There are Three camps sites, in the area, Mahogany, which is at the TH, Thorndike and Wildrose . I believe this are all primitive. Bring enough food and water and what else you need. Just an FYI, getting to Mahogany requires 4x4.

I’ll be standing next to the TH sign. Which is at mahogany flat campground.

If this sounds like your type of adventure, sign up and answer the questions that pop up . If I’ve hiked with you in the past, disregard the questions.

No dogs. No plus ones. You must be a member.

Of course adverse weather cancels this hike.
