Join us for a weekend in the market town of Wooler on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, and only 15 mins from the beaches and castles on the coastline. It’s a great location for exploring the Cheviots, Northumberland and the Borders, and for walking, cycling and mountain biking (and swimming in the sea?). There’s plenty of walk options, either long distance along St Cuthbert’s Way to Lindisfarne, or in the Cheviot hills. Other places to explore include Bamburgh Castle, Lindisfarne, the Farne Islands, Alnwick Castle, and Chillingham Castle.

We’ll be staying in Wooler Hostel, which is 400m from the centre of town and handy for pubs, cafes and shops. At the hostel, there’s a large dining room/lounge with a wood burning stove, self-catering kitchen, drying room, and storage for bikes. There’s also a central courtyard with a lawn and picnic tables. Bedding is supplied but you’ll need to bring a towel.

We’ll be organising walks between us, but of course you’re free to do your own thing. In the evening we'll have a few drinks, music and socialising.

Accommodation in the main building is spread over 11 rooms. Several are en-suite and there are also shared bathrooms. The larger bunk rooms will be allocated on a single sex basis.
There are four 2-bunk rooms, suitable for couples or two friends to share. It’s “first come, first served” on these, so give me a shout if you want one. EDIT – all 2-bunk rooms are now taken, but we still have places in single sex dorms.

There are also four shepherd’s huts, again suitable for couples or two people to share. The shepherd’s huts are heated and have use of a shared bathroom. EDIT - all shepherd's huts are now taken.

Dogs are allowed in the shepherd's huts (only 1 dog per hut) but dogs are not allowed anywhere in the main building, so please make sure your doggo will be happy on their own in the hut (and will be well-behaved).

Cost will be £62pp for 2 nights, which will include a Saturday night meal (tbc, but there will be a meat and vegan option).

Booking is on the usual basis:
\- once the hostel and evening meal is paid for then any extra cash goes in the kitty\.
\- if you have to cancel then I'll only be able to refund you if there's enough in the kitty \[unless you can find someone to take your place\]\.
\- anything left in the kitty the week before the event will be spent on tea/coffee/snacks for the group\.

Please don’t book unless you’re happy with the above – I’m not looking to make any money out of this, but I don’t want to be out of pocket either. 😊

All arrangements about the weekend will be shared through WhatsApp (not through Meetup!) so you may miss important info if you're not on the WhatsApp group.

WHAT TO BRING
Bedding is included, but you will need to bring a towel.
Bring breakfasts, lunches, and your Friday night meal.
Drinks, including alcohol.

Fo the walks, you will need to bring walk/weather appropriate clothing, lunch, water and snacks. Even if the weather is mild, please bring warm layers and something windproof/waterproof, as hill conditions can change quickly.
