An excellent, tough 8ish mile Kinder Scout winter hike . This hike is suitable for friends with a good level of fitness and who have enjoyed hiking on Kinder Scout in the winter and/or enjoy mountain hikes in the winter.

It is a lovely but challenging and steep mountain adventure on rough ground up and on the wild and wintery Kinder plateau. Bring your hiking boots, waterproofs, lunch and anything else that you'll needup in the wintery Peak District

On this hike we will leave Edale to hike up the steep rough path to reach Grindslow Knoll at 601m. We'll then head along the rough path to the top of Grindsbrook. We'll follow the rough, wet path to visit the tiny, ruined 4 Jacks' Cabin and then head off the paths over the boggy plateau to visit the small Dragon Rapide plane crash site.

We'll probably then head back down the rough path to re-join the southern edge path before heading to Ringing Roger and then down to Edale. If the ground conditions and time are suitable we might have a further wander on the wild plateau before heading to the path.

NB The slightly earlier-than-usual 9.30 start and we'll be looking to be back for 3.30 - possibly slightly earlier. Please bring a head torch if you have one - but I'm not planning on needing to use them.

If the weather on the day suggests that a different route would be wise, we'll do a different route.

I am **not** a professional walking guide and am **not** a qualified first aider.

I'll post a link to the 'live' Met Office forecast for the tops as a message a day or so before the hike

We will leave the main (Village Hall) carpark in Edale promptly at 9.30am and return for 3.30pm approx. I'll probably be up for a post hike pint in the Nags or the Ramblers should anyone else fancy it.

Please satisfy yourself that the winter mountain hike is suitable for you and that you are in a fit medical state to take part in it. Please plan and prepare well for this challenging winter hike and take part entirely at your own risk. The usual group rules regarding 'no responsibility is taken etc' apply to this and all of my hikes. The group doesn't have insurance so please take part in this potentially dangerous activity entirely at your own risk.
