Valley Forge Levee Walk & Audubon Owl Bushwhack Loop
Details
3.5-4 hours, 10 miles, some big hills, trails, some paved. Some bushwhacking. Normally we do this once each year in the spring when flowers are blooming.
Rescued owls at Audubon Center are beautiful. We walk 30 ft levies, bushwhack up a steep hill, quite different from your normal VF hike. We pass by many interesting places: St Gabriels Farm School which has lamas, donkeys, alpacas, etc; the ruins of Pawlings historic estate and farm as wells as the 285 year old Sycamore Tree; the incredible Fatlands Estate which looks like a horse farm from a movie; a hidden unmarked grave yard out in field near St Gabreils; a hidden copper mine entrance that is visible though it may be too dangerous to get close to the entrance.
