HoCo Asians

This community is for everyone in their 20s - 40s who are looking to build connections through low key, non-pressure Asian-interest food outings and events, hikes, and a variety of experiences around Howard County in Maryland. With an emphasis on casual atmospheres and authentic conversations, we value quality over quantity of connections.

Members from any background and ethnicity, singles, and couples are welcomed! This is not a dating group - everyone has the right to make friends and meet new people without feeling this pressure. This group is for you whether you are new to HoCo, lived here all your life, or simply exploring HoCo!

I created this group after having experience organizing an Asian-interest Meetup group in southern California. After my wife and I have settled into Howard County, we are looking forward to experiencing and meeting the community we live in. We look forward to meeting you and having fun experiences!

Please note key guidelines below that will help us achieve our goal of a welcoming and fun environment:

- Feel comfortable knowing that our events are designed with the intention of small gatherings to not feel overwhelmed of the number of attendees. 
- Let the organizers know if you have any feedback or suggestions on events

Don’ts
- Don’t treat this group as a dating group, as there are other Meet-ups out there that serve that purpose. We welcome singles and couples into a welcoming environment without feeling dating pressures. 
- Don’t create a toxic or uncomfortable environment. Individuals with numerous independent complaints towards them for making fellow members uncomfortable will be banned.
- Don’t display behaviors and/or say things that may be interpreted as racist, ageist, homophobic, or to put others down in any way.
- Don’t sign up for events if you are unsure you will be able to come. Each event will be a small gathering to create a personal environment for attendees. At times, our events will require reservations. Members who repeatedly sign up and do not show up (3 times) will be given a warning and automatically waitlisted. Therefore, be sure to change your RSVP prior to the event if you cannot attend the event. 
- Don’t be a jerk. Just don’t do it. It’s really not necessary and not that serious. We’re all excited to meet each other and have a fun time together.
