Join us at The City of Raleigh Museum for an exciting journey through Raleigh's past and present. Students will explore the vibrant history of our Capital city, discover how local government works and walk the historic Fayetteville St.

Our 1.5 - 2 hour visit will include:

**Fayetteville Street Walking Tour -** this walking tour spans the length of Fayetteville Street (from the Capital Building to Memorial Hall). Examine some of the buildings both historic and modern. Learn about events that helped shape downtown Raleigh. Discover Raleigh's "Main Street" and the history that surrounds it.

**People’s Politics –** Students will learn about city government and how it operates. The students learn will about city council, how the council listens to it constituents to make important decisions and the learn about the districts in Raleigh. They will then get to be city council and decide if they want to build a new stadium.

**Raleigh Then and Now-** This lesson plan uses one of our "Hello We are Raleigh" exhibit to discuss the history of Raleigh.

This is a fantastic opportunity for students to engage in the City's heritage, understand the importance of civic participation and enjoy a hands-on history lesson.

**Parking & Entrance Information:**

Please make sure you are accessing the Museum from the front entrance (220 Fayetteville Street).

📣Make sure to try and give yourself some extra time to find parking and get to the Musem by 1:00 so that we can start on time.

**This program is open to students ages 10+ and the material will be geared towards students ages 10-14.** Siblings are welcome to participate if you think that they are able to. **Please RSVP for the number of students that you have participating only. I have two kids participating so I would RSVP for myself and 1 guests.**
