Most of the shops at Ala Moana Center open at 10 a.m. so we avoid the crowds by starting earlier. There's plenty of coffee and food at Brug bakeshop, Musubi Cafe, Seoul Mix, Ahi & Vegetables along with Starbucks in Macy's at that hour of the day.
Each session will have:
- 15 minutes of socializing/getting food (9 a.m.-9:15 a.m.)
- 1 hour of writing (9:15 a.m.-10:15 a.m.)
- 15 minutes of more socializing/reflection (stay as long as you want)
Bring something to write on (notebook, laptop, etc), a project in mind to work on, and a positive attitude!
No power outlets so arrive fully charged or go analog. I have some nametag stickers if anyone would like to use as it can get noisy in there to catch names or if you don't want to test people's memories.
- Parking: Lots of free covered parking at 9 a.m., not so much as it gets closer to the shopping center's opening time of 10 a.m.
- Food: Please buy some food/drink at this event as we are in a food court.
- WiFi: Free via AlaMoanaCenterGuest captive login portal
- Bathrooms: Next to Brug
- Birds: If you see a bird above you on a lamp please shoo it away as they will poop-bomb you.
- Chairs: Please return the chairs to where they belong if you borrow them from another table. We want to be good customers.
- Noise: A section of the food court is having NFL games on. While the TV isn't very loud the fans watching in the food court can get noisy depending on how their teams are doing so if you don't want to be startled bring earplugs/earphones.
- Temperature: The Lanai food court has an efficient air-conditioning system so if you tend to get cold you may want to dress accordingly.
