What we’re about
Join us for four-part a cappella women's barbershop singing!
This audition-based a cappella chorus features women of diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds. We're always looking for treble voices to join our chorus!
Guests and prospective members are welcome at any of our Monday evening rehearsals.
Honolulu Blend is a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, a worldwide organization of women singers committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education, competition and performance.
What does Honolulu Blend do?
We promote the music education and vocal abilities of each member through workshops and coaching opportunities.
We perform in support of local charities, such as Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure, Toys for Tots, and Girl Scouts of Hawaii.
We compete at our Sweet Adelines International Regional (Golden West Region 21) Competitions.
We sing in the community at shopping malls, nursing homes, military bases, retirement facilities, UH games, and community events.
How to join
Join us at Monday night rehearsals! A member of the Music Team will help you find the barbershop voice part that is the best fit for you. Then we will provide you with sheet music and audio recordings to help you practice your music at home in your assigned voice part. You will be supported by a Buddy and Section Leader. It’s their job to help you and answer any questions you may have. Continue to attend rehearsals, practice your music with the chorus, and when you are ready, your Section Leader will schedule you for a private audition with the Music Team.
Chorus members who pass audition pay annual and monthly dues to cover operating expenses (e.g., music, director fees, facilities rental) and education opportunities.
