Details

Please see photo of where parking is, if parking north of Memorial, the pedestrian bridge is straight across Memorial from Water Works.

If late, see in photo the direction we take off in.

Should have holiday decor all around til New Years, so we’ll see tunnels all dressed up. Park at Buffalo Bayou Visitor Center - The Waterworks and Cistern plaza, 105 Sabine, or across pedestrian bridge on North Memorial Way.

Sadly, the cool 1950’s futuristic design of the restaurants and shops under Bank of the Southwest (now Travis Tower) building has been remodeled into blandness.

Hard to get a signal and track miles, so we’ll go for time, will try to make it two hours.
We walk a bit along the bayou and enter tunnels near Hobby Center. Lots of food and all the shops you would need to support a city of office workers.

We’ll walk through many different old and new building styles. We pass by the Hyatt lobby if anyone wants to go in. I try to stick to interesting parts but there will be long mostly empty stretches.

We go through the Understory, food and drink area and go in a wonderful old classic bank lobby with historic murals. If we’re feeling it, we’ll go in the beautiful 100 year old Julia Ideson Library Building.

Just regular clothes, don’t really need hiking/walking gear, we’ll be outside only a short bit, of course water, restrooms, etc in tunnels.
