Let's Dance Club – Mid Missouri
What is the "Let's Dance Club"? ... The Let’s Dance Club is Jefferson City’s only all-live music dance club. Members dance in the spacious all-hardwood floating dance floor of the Capital Ritz ballroom. Individuals wishing to join may pay a one-year’s admission fee for which they are entitled to come to eight dances, usually from September to May.
Let’s Dance Club membership also entitles individual members to a one-time complimentary guest passage of one person (or a couple) at no additional charge during the dance season. The Let's Dance Club members meet at the Capital Ritz on the second Friday of each month from September through May (dances typically begin at 8:00 PM and members are encouraged to bring a snack to share with others).
Club members enjoy dancing to a variety of live band music with most bands playing orchestra ensembles featuring classical dance music, jazz, or pop selections. East and West-coast Swing, foxtrot, tango, waltz, rhumba, cha cha, two-step and quick-step are only a few of the dance styles you will enjoy at Let’s Dance Club. Many of our dances feature Jefferson City’s own 16-member big band: the Kapital Kicks! Other bands recently appearing at Let’s Dance Club have included The Norm Ruebling Band, Swing’n Axes, Faded Youth, Helen Russell & Company, and the Liberty Jazz Band.
The Let’s Dance Club has its own board of directors who serve on a rotational basis in order to help keep fresh ideas flowing into Club activities. The membership dues are $60 per person per dance year (eight dance parties with live bands) if paid by September 1st of each year. Fees paid after December 31st are $40.00. Guest fees are $15.00 and sometimes lower, depending on the band. Dress code is semi-formal/formal.
If you enjoy listening or dancing to the big band sound and meeting new people, the Club would love to have you join. No dance experience is necessary and singles are certainly welcome.
