Our next movie is "Bicycle Thieves." This Italian classic is from 1948, directed by Vittorio De Sica.

The movie is a neorealist drama which takes place in Rome shortly after the end of World War II. A poor man finds that his bicycle has been stolen. It is his only means to get to his job which he desperately needs to support his family. He and his son search throughout the city, giving us views of life in the post-war Italian capital. Roger Ebert wrote: "routinely voted one of the greatest films of all time, revered as one of the foundation stones of Italian neorealism, it is a simple, powerful film." New York Times movie critic A.O. Scott wrote: "Part of what draws filmmakers (and film lovers) to “Bicycle Thieves” is its purity and simplicity, but to emphasize those elements ... is to risk underestimating its complexity and sophistication."
