Meet at Panera Bread and walk inside Clackamas Town Center, both floors about 1.7 miles total, then back to Panera's for lunch or snack.

Saturday in the 'Burbs: now you can relax and catch up with freethinking friends at a favorite spot near your neighborhood, but without that annoying weekday commute. =-)

The restaurant shares a shopping center parking lot. TriMet bus route #57 has stops on TV Hwy (Oregon Route 8.)

Presentation over Zoom by Stephen Vaughan relating to nature photography. Vaughan explores the shift from outcome-focused activities in natural history to a more holistic, immersive approach. Vaughan is a seasoned professional nature photographer and ornithologist, dedicating over five decades to capturing the wonders of natural history. His exceptional imagery has graced the pages of countless esteemed publications, including National Geographic, Audubon, National Wildlife, Sierra Club, and Arizona Highways.

Walk in North Clackamas Park on a paved 0.6 mile path.
We walk around 2 or 3 times, gather at the picnic benches, and eventually head out for lunch nearby.

Another walking group joins us in the park, and a few more people often join us for lunch.

In the event of really bad weather, a message will be posted here before 8:30am that we are canceling or moving to the Clackamas mall that day.

Presentation at Friendly House by Chia Yin Hsu. She provides a picture of the relations between Russia and Ukraine from the Soviet to the post-Soviet era. She traces the trajectory of the Ukrainian national movement from its inception in the 19th century to the formation of a Ukrainian republic after the 1917 Russian Revolution.

Chia Yin Hsu is Associate Professor of History at Portland State University. Her research focuses on Russian and Soviet views of ethnicity and nationality, and on the cultural history of money from the late Imperial to the early Soviet era. She has published in academic journals and is also coeditor of two anthologies of essays on the cultural aspect of economic and monetary history.
