Fall Fiery Gizzard Hike to Ravens Point-See Update
Details
A bunch of you have asked for it-so here we go!
Join Ginger, Milo and me for a nice hike on the Fiery Gizzard Trail near Tracy City TN.
The intention originally was to do the whole thing but this late in the year with the shorter days I began to feel apprehensive, especially with such an early start time. So I have moved it to 8 am. Now my plan is to meet at the Tracy City trailhead, hike the day loop to the metal bridge, hike along the creek past Sycamore Falls. Ascend the bluff up Dog Hole trail and take that all the way to Ravens Point where we can enjoy a rest and lunch. Then back to the trailhead the same way. Once we get up on the ridge past the dog hole mine, it's fairly level along the bluff all the way to Ravens Point.
Going this route we won't have the whole car shuttling hassle too. We can save the full length hike until mid next year.
You'll get to see some beautiful woodland scenery, gorgeous bluff views and waterfalls.
This will be at least an 8 hour hike, expect lots of roots, rocks, steep elevation, but is so worth it. Backpacker magazine has rated it as one of the top 25 trails in the country.
Afterwards we can get dinner at Hanks Corner Grill.
I put some photos in the picture section so you can get an idea of the trail.
Any questions, please let me know!
Chris
