We're a laid back group who loves the outdoors. From Mt Biking to skiing, hiking, camping, weekend trips, skydiving, BBQ's and just hanging out with like minded people. It doesn't matter if you are brand new to an activity or a seasoned veteran, most of our activities are no drop (no one left behind). Everyone started somewhere and we want to encourage new people to come join us.

Common sense says everyone is responsible for his or her own safety, by joining us for an event (either as a member or guest) you agree to hold all other members and organizers harmless for any damage or injuries. Please know and understand your physical limits and the risks, dangers and hazards associated with any outdoor activity or any event hosted by this group. Please wear helmets, gloves, eye protection, or whatever other safety gear is appropriate for the activity.

Also, be sure to bring sufficient water, snacks, first aid supplies, etc, that you’ll need. Trail etiquette is important, please be respectful of other users and know when to yield. If you have questions, please ask a veteran rider, we are happy to help.

IMBOA MTB Skill and Fitness Descriptions:

As a group member, you will see us post the level of the ride. To help reduce any confusion, here’s a description of the various rides we post.
NEWBIE: Mountain Biking? What’s that? Sounds rad. I want to try it!
Fitness level: any
Skill level = none
BEGINNER:
Fitness level: can participate in easy-moderate cardiovascular activity for about 60 minutes give or take
Skill level: can handle mellow singletrack with no technical features and minimal climbing. Approximately 4-5 miles max. These rides are “no-drop”, meaning that no one is left behind and the group stays together.
INTERMEDIATE-EASY:
Fitness level: can participate in easy-moderate cardiovascular activity for about 90 minutes give or take
Skill level: Singletrack is your new drug of choice. Climbing is still torture but you can slowly make your way up the hill. The occasional small rock or root isn’t scary anymore and you have figured out that there is no shame in hiking your bike when needed. You also have discovered the pure joy of descending after your suffer-fest to get to the top. You have worked your way up to about a 6-9 mile ride with some climbing involved. These rides are “no-drop”, meaning that no one is left behind and the group stays together.
INTERMEDIATE:
Fitness level: can participate in moderate-strenuous activity for about 2 hours, maybe more on a good day.
Skill level: hills, rocks, roots and oh yes, climbing hills. You can comfortably handle them at a slow-moderate speed, hiking your bike over the really scary stuff. Intermediate rides are usually 9+ miles with about 600-1500 feet of climbing, on most rides. These rides are “no-drop”, meaning that no one is left behind and the group stays together.
INTERMEDIATE-ADVANCED:
Fitness level: can participate in moderate-strenuous activity for 2 or more hours on any given day.
Skill level: You are one step away from being in the big boy/girl group. This group tends to be attracted to rocks, drops and I have I said climbing? Yes, climbing is often less intimidating than some of the downhill we play on. In this group, you are still hiking a bike over the big stuff but rolling or jumping everything else. These rides are usually about 12-20 miles, depending on the time of day. If you pick this group, you need to be self-sufficient. While we usually stick together, you will see these called “drop rides” ; meaning that it is every man/woman for themselves. You need to have the ability to find your way back, if you get left in the dust and able to handle basic mechanical issues that arise.
ADVANCED:
Fitness level: can participate in strenuous activity for 2 or more hours on any given day
Skill level: welcome to the big leagues. This group loves technical terrain and long, hard, fast-paced rides. Plan on 15 or more miles. If you love a good suffer-fest and think you can keep up, it’s worth the pain. The end result is usually a “heck yeah, I must buy a better bike and do that again!” If you pick this group, you need to be self-sufficient. While we usually stick together, you will see these called “drop rides”; meaning that it is every man/woman for themselves. You need to have the ability to find your way back, if you get left in the dust and able to handle basic mechanical issues that arise. 
That’s enough of the boring stuff…. NOW LET’S GO HAVE SOME FUN!!!!!!

Donate however much you wish to, it will all be used for the group and extra funds will be sent to nonprofit trail building organizations such as SWIMBA and Bogus Basin. We are a free group so donations are not required. A running total of the monthly donations will be maintained at the top and will reset on the 1st of each month. A running total of the donations sent to nonprofit trail building organizations and how much went to each will also be posted.
