Friday Improv Jam 6:30pm / Community Show 7:30pm ($10)

Details

This is the flagship event of the Improv NOW! group. All who show up are welcome to perform or watch improv!

Program
6:30-7:30pm Improv Jam

  • The jam will consist of 2 & 3 person scenes, and group scenes. All scenes will be inspired by a suggestion of a random word, announced verbally from the audience!

7:30-8:30pm Community Show

  • This is an improv show starring the most seasoned performers of this community!
  • The show will feature 3 house teams. If time permits, most weeks will also have a spot for audience members to perform as a group with veteran improvisers
  • For guidelines for performing in this Community Show, please click here.
  • If you are interested in joining an improv team in the future, please click here.

Cost

  • $10 for everyone in attendance. This price lets you attend both events. It is also the same price if you can only attend one. To save time on the day of the event, if you can beforehand, please message the host for electronic payment details: either Venmo, Zelle, Paypal, or Cashapp. Can submit the payment later at the event if you prefer.

  • To sign up, RSVP here. When you arrive, let the host know if you will be an audience member, otherwise it is assumed that you came to perform. At any time you can switch from being an audience member to a performer, and that is totally encouraged, or vice-versa, just let the host know if you prefer to sit out. If you're an audience member, please let the performers sit by the aisle to give them easier access to the stage.

Improv Jam Etiquette

  1. Support each other. Treat each other like poets, artists, and geniuses.
  2. Make things true. Don't deny.
  3. Make statements. Know things (rather than being clueless). Know your scene partner, rather than be strangers. Be competent.
  4. Don't be a jerk. Treat people well.
  5. Don't be racist, homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic, able-ist, or plain mean. Try not to bring mental health or substance abuse issues into scenes.
  6. Have fun. Be a supportive audience member as most people are new to improv. Applaud or laugh if you feel like!
