Join Inside Wine Santa Barbara for a refreshing taste of handcrafted spirits at the Rock 12 Distillery in Sta. Rita Hills!
Rock 12 Distillery is our region's first farm-to-glass distillery, created by Sarah and Marko Suput who purchased a working llama farm on the Sta. Rita Hills Wine Trail, with the goal of planting an orchard, harvesting local fruit and making farm-fresh craft spirits.
Sarah and Marko create delicious spirits: Vodka (including one infused with hibiscus), Gin, Coffee Liqueur, Brandy and Quince Liqueur in their farm's Copper Pot Still handmade by a master craftsman in Serbia. Marko comes from a long line of Serbian distiller that have been using small-batch, direct-fired stills for decades.
We'll see their farm, learn how their farm's fresh ingredients are transformed in the still into delicious libations, and taste 3 of their spirits + a mini-cocktail plus enjoy appetizers. You'll be able to choose which spirits you taste, before the cocktail.
This experience is normally $40, as an Inside Wine SB member, you are saving $10--plus you'll enjoy appetizers!
Rock 12 Distillery's offerings, your choice of 3:
- Vodka: (14x distilled from pure fruit), including a Vodka infused with Serrano Pepper and one infused with Hibiscus
- Gin: a London Dry style, juniper-forward
- Coffee Liqueur: using locally roasted coffee
- Quince Liquer: estate quince with sweetness and cinnamon is like apple pie in a glass!
- Victus Amaro: bitter roots and herbs in the tradition of Aperol or Campari
- Brandy: made from Santa Barbara County wine, aged in barrel 2 years
- Apple Brandy: estate apples fermented then distilled, aged in new charred American oak, then rye, then a port barrel
We're excited to expand our horizons and learn new things! Hope you can join us.
You can make a weekend out of this event! Rock 12 Distillery has accommodations in the Santa Ynez Valley! See their offerings here: https://ww w.rock12distillery.c om/lodging (Please remove the spaces in the link--we have to add them as the Meetup platform masks outside links.)
Also, since the event in the Sta. Rita Hills is during cocktail hour, we thought we'd see if anyone wants to join us for dinner afterwards at the nearby restaurant Industrial Eats. If you haven't eaten Industrial Eats food, you are in for a treat! https:// industrialeats .com/ (Obviously, dinner isn't be included in the price of the event).
Email Tama at "insidewinesantabarbara @ yahoo.com" if interested in dinner after--a fun way to extend the evening and have a chance to socialize!
cheers,
