What we’re about

The Spiritual Friendship Group is free and open to the public. We will meet twice a month for a contemplation and discussion. We will also meet once a month for a spiritual practice session, a meditation followed by a discussion about some aspect of spiritual practice.

We ask that people refrain from being dogmatic, directive or argumentative in the group allowed each person to have their own approach, opinions and ideas. We encourage you to talk about your own experience and not give advice unless it is requested.
The basic idea of a spiritual friendship is to have a friend who is willing and open to being open, genuine, authentic and at times even vulnerable. The goal is to provide a place that is safe to be yourself.

Realizing that there are limits to our comfort in being open in a group setting the opportunity will be there to develop an individual spiritual friendship with someone in the group that you resonate with.

What happens in each session will vary. In some sessions there will be a guided contemplation and then a discussion afterwards. Once a month there will be a session devoted just to developing your own spiritual practice. In the practice sessions we will meditate together and introduce you to different spiritual practices. From time to time there will be guest speakers. Over time it is expected that a number of subgroups will develop:
Spiritual Friendship for Buddhist
Spiritual Friendship for Quakers
Spiritual Friendship of Christians
and an Advanced Spiritual Friendship Group.

There is no cost for this program.
