What we’re about
Intersectionality acknowledges that an individual’s experiences and challenges are shaped by multiple interconnected social identities. These identities, such as race, gender, sexual orientation, ability, and socio-economic background, intersect to create unique experiences that can impact mental health in nuanced ways.

While diversity and inclusion initiatives exist in most modern settings, those programs often fail to recognize the ways an individual may experience inequity and discrimination from various identities. Most initiatives think of individuals from a singular oppression lens without considering the multiple sources of discrimination an individual may be experiencing.
Intellectual empathy requires that we know and understand our own tendencies, biases, blind spots, and social identities, as well as others:This means knowing about ourselves and knowing as much as we can about other people’s circumstances, particularly people whose circumstances are different from our own.
