Join Mark in the main parking lot of Central Park for a 4-mile moderate-paced hike to enjoy Central Park by twilight!

Dogs welcome on short leashes, or at the back of the group if the are on those extension leashes. Dogs not allowed Inside at High Pines (only on patio when open in warmer months).

We will hike the well-lit wooded paths around and past the lake, then see through the “put-to-bed” gardens of Muriel Sahlin Arboretum, hike across Dale to the Nature Center to see the bats circling over the wooden docks through the wetlands (might skip docks due to ice and level of darkenss) then back across Dale along marshlands and past athletic fields in a large loop of Central Park.

Try for some lovely night photos over the moonlit ice!

Park in the main lot off Lexington Ave. and meet on the grass next to the start of the paved path.

Afterward, we will head over to High Pines Brewing for a beer or hard seltzer and food.

Wear appropriate clothing! Hikes are often on unpaved trails and can be wet, muddy, slippery, rocky, icy. There are animals with teeth, claws, antlers and even forked tongues. There are insects with stingers, etc. This is nature! Dress right and come prepared with bug spray, water, layers, extra gloves, and snow cleats, and headlamps or flashlights, if needed.

No kids, but dogs and plus-ones allowed, if accompanied by registered members of Intrepid, Fit & Social.

Your dog is not allowed inside High Pines (only the patio when open) so please consider outside temps when leaving your dog in your car, if it’s cold outside.
