What we’re about
Our group is for adults on the Isle of Man interested in playing basketball in a non-coached, non-refereed setting. The group is open to all ages (18+) and genders.
We run 1-2 sessions a week. These are held at The Roundhouse, Braddan, or the NSC depending on what times are available, so always (always) check the time and place of the session.
Sessions consist solely of short games of Half Court 4 v 4 basketball. Perfect for anyone looking for a casual but competitive game.
To be clear: This is Pick-Up Basketball. No coaching is provided, so a basic understanding of the rules is recommended for an enjoyable experience.

We typically run one to two hour sessions. The cost for attending varies depending on the venue, but is usually around £3-5 per hour. The fees cover, in the first place, the cost of hiring the courts -- any extra is then put back into the group by covering Meetup site fees, buying bibs and balls etc. In the event any money is left over it will be used to go towards a round (or two) of drinks at one of our socials.
If you're new and attending your first session you will likely get a message asking you for your height and experience level, which helps us arrange somewhat balanced teams for the session. When you get to the court, you'll likely see a printed list of teams, directing you to which colour bib to wear.
To make the running of the sessions as easy as possible and to keep quality high we have set out a few administrative rules and guidelines, as follows:
Sessions are limited to 20 attendees. This is done to make sure that they aren't too crowded and everyone gets decent playing time, sign-ups are first come first served.
On RSVPing to a session you will be asked to pay the fee for attending via Paypal, if you have to change your RSVP you will be refunded as long as it is 12 hours before the session. Cancellations less than 12 hours before a session will not be refunded. This is done to give those on the waiting list adequate time to adjust their plans and/or RSVP respond. If you don't have Paypal, you can send a message to the organisers, who can add you to the attendee list and you can pay cash at the session.
