Title: Go Faster Sooner! Discover SQL Server index prescriptions for the biggest performance improvements
Your SQL Server wants to go faster - and it knows where it needs help! All you've got to do is ask. What makes this approach different? You'll learn different kinds of index pain and why they affect query performance. And how pain can identify the the quickest and biggest improvements. You don't have to address every index on every table to see improvement - just start with the ones in the most pain and watch your queries run faster!
89 SQL system views combine to create nearly 500 diagnostics and over 100 detailed index prescriptions to make your queries perform. All results are presented in Excel, highlighting the pains and detailing prescriptions for each table and index. From there leverage Excel's analytic powers to slice and dice your way through all that data! You no longer have to find, download, and run a bunch of scripts, glue results together, scroll through columns looking for patterns, and guess how and where to get started. It's all in there!
Prerequisites: Basic understanding of SQL Server index types
Session Goals:
- Identify when index tuning is the fastest way to the performance finish line
- Measure index pain and affect on query performance
- Prioritize & prescribe detailed index-level improvement actions
- Explore hundreds of diagnostics to gain further insights into your indexes
- Review index and table metadata & visually scrutinize performance metricsAll code can be found at https://github.com/SQLXL/SQLXL
