Food waste is a major problem in Singapore. Every year, about 817,000 tonnes of food is wasted. This is equivalent to the weight of 100,000 cars!
Ugly foods are fruits and vegetables that are rejected by supermarkets and retailers because they do not meet the strict cosmetic standards. However, these foods are perfectly edible and nutritious.

**What makes this event unique:**
Ugly Food hopes to Increase awareness of the problem of food wastage as many people are unaware of the extent of food waste in Singapore. This workshop helps raise awareness of this issue and its impact on the environment.
Many people are hesitant to eat ugly foods because they believe that they are not as nutritious or appealing as their more conventionally attractive counterparts. It can help to change these attitudes and show that ugly foods are just as edible and nutritious as any other food. It provides attendees with information and resources on how they can reduce food waste in their own lives. This could include things like buying ugly foods, composting food scraps, or donating food to food banks. Ultimately, it creates a sense of community. The workshop will bring together people who are passionate about reducing food waste. This can help to create a sense of community and support for those who are working to make a difference.

Potato Pirates Coding Card Game is an award-winning card game that teaches players basic programming concepts that is usually seen as abstract, complex, or unapproachable. We gamify these concepts as you are now playing as a Potato Pirate captain trying to survive a ferocious Potato War to be the first to save Potato King. Learn to build power combo of attacks using coding cards to defeat your opponents!

**Meet Your Hosts:**
We are Codomo - a Singaporean Education Technology company on a mission to deliver delightful educational experiences through technology and design. Our journey started off with us running many STEM training programs for kids. Through that and our own learning experiences in CS, we identified the following problems:

🔴 Learning to code is scary, even for adults.
🔴 The logic of Computational Thinking is rudimentary, it is the syntax that makes it so difficult.
🔴 STEM education introduces more screen time for children, we don't need anymore of that.
🔴 Many parents and teachers don't understand why kids need to learn to code and aren't involved in their kids' learning journey.
🔴 Basic Computational Thinking knowledge is essential in today's world.
