In this talk, Rajan Palanivel, VP of Engineering at Baffle Inc ([https://baffle.io/](https://baffle.io/)), will share how a PL/RUST based extension can be used to protect sensitive data in PostgreSQL. Rajan will lead the discussion on how PL/RUST allows you to deploy data-centric security into a managed cloud service as well as the performance benefits of RUST.

The discussion will begin by looking at why current approaches could put sensitive data at risk or negatively impact business processes. Rajan will then share a simple use case like protecting data in lower security environments, and build up to a more complex case like running complex queries and compute-intensive processes on encrypted data in the cloud with an architectural example of an in-use application of this solution at a large financial services organization.

Postgres Conference Seattle: 2024

In 2020 we had to cancel the Postgres Conference in Manhattan. If you haven’t been living under a rock for 5 years, you know why. Since that time, every single sponsor, partner and most of our attendees have been asking, “When are you going back to the East Coast?”. Of course due to our East Coast roots of being in NYC the team discussed it at length and with many community members.

**A Destination**
One of the requirements for our next location was that it is a destination. It is a place you likely want to visit at least once in your life. You want things to do outside of the conference. You want museums, drinks, social life, landmarks and an experience to remember. NYC provides all of that. It also is exorbitantly expensive.

Orlando also meets all of our requirements. It is an easy trip from Europe and anywhere in North America. It provides a wealth of opportunities for families and professionals. It is truly a magical place and is well known for a certain mouse.
