What we’re about
I like books. You like books. Let's have a beer and talk about books.
This will be the Ithaca iteration of a bookless book club I started in grad school. Rather than assign books for each meeting, we instead meet roughly once a month and simply chat about whatever books we've read since the last meeting.
You can read classics, you can read politics, you can read mysteries, you can really read whatever the hell you want, as long as you come and tell us about it. You don't have to worry about the club choosing books you don't want to read because whatever you read is what the club wants to hear about!
Simply show up with a list of what books you've read over the past month (or the books themselves as I often do), grab a beer (or lesser beverages if you prefer), and tell us about those books and what you thought about them.
I'm new to the area, so if you have recommendations for places we can meet up, I'd love to hear them. Ithaca Beer seems like a spot that will always have space, but it would be nice to pick a spot more centrally located for the long term.
When you arrive, you can typically look for the nerds with stacks of books on the tables, or look for me directly. I'll be the bald, beardy, bookish bastard imbibing booze.
