Japanese Traditional Playing Card　　『かるた大会で言語交換！』

“Karuta“ experience and language exchange！

The main idea is to understand, recognise and tolerate different cultures.

Basically, the focus is on language exchange, but we also organise a variety of other events such as Japanese language classes, calligraphy, ink painting, cooking Japanese food (okonomiyaki, takoyaki, sushi, home cooking, etc.), Japanese pattern nailing, fortune-telling, etc.
Please introduce your country's culture as well.

Let's deepen mutual understanding and build peaceful relationships through various events.

There are no restrictions on participants; people of all races, genders, ages and professions are welcome.

The 4th event will be held as follows.

[Theme]
Let's enjoy language exchange with local Japanese people through “karuta“!

[What is Karuta?]
The Karuta has picture cards and word cards.
The reading cards have proverbs written on them.
The picture cards have illustrations of the proverbs.
When playing, the dealer reads out the cards to be read,
and the players compete for the cards that match.
The player who takes the most cards wins.

[Rules]
Japanese speaker and foreigner pair up, and the foreigner can get the cards.
Japanese speakers are only allowed to teach Hiragana(Japanese Letters) to the foreigner and not to take the cards.

[Prizes]
We will prepare small prize.

[Things to bring, etc.]
The Karuta and other materials will be provided by the organizer.
Please come with comfortable clothes.

【ルール】
日本語話者と海外の方でペアになり、海外の方に札をとって頂きます。
日本語話者はひらがなを教えてあげるのみで取ってはいけません。

【賞品】
ささやかですがご用意します。

【持ち物など】
かるたは主催者側で用意します。
動きやすい服装で来て下さいね！

¥500（キャッシュ)

当日はタコ焼き器を用意します。焼き方を説明しながら海外の方と言語交換を楽しみましょう！

たこ焼き道具はイベント主催者側で用意します。　手ぶらで来て下さいね！
