We're going to be making Himmeli (with plastic straws!) and cards -- just in time for the holidays!

After we finish making Himmeli, we'll enjoy some tea & snacks, and then get our creative juices flowing during our card-making workshop!

We will guide you through the Himmeli-making process, step by step. All materials will be provided. Beginners are also welcome!

Leave your worries at the door, and come enjoy a fun, relaxing time with strangers (you may even leave with a new friend)!

What is a Himmeli?

"Himmeli" comes from the Swedish word, "himmel," which means "sky" or "heaven." In Scandinavian culture, Himmeli were often hung above the dinner table during the holiday season as a symbol of good fortune and bountiful harvest. Himmeli are geometric structures, typically made by threading pieces of straw into intricate, symmetrical shapes such as diamonds, pyramids, or more complex forms. The construction of a Himmeli requires precision and patience, as the balance and symmetry are key to its aesthetic appeal.

カラフルなストローを使ってモービルを作りましょう！

フィンランドの工芸品「ヒンメリ」。ストローをひと筆書きのように糸でつないでいく手法を学びます。だれでも楽しめる北欧の手仕事、初めての方も歓迎です。 祈りを込めてひとつずつつなげてでき上がる神秘的で美しいヒンメリを作りながら日々の喧騒を忘れゆったりと楽しいアートの時間を満喫しよう。
ヒンメリ制作の後は、お茶とお菓子を楽しみながらコラージュグリーティングカードを作りましょう。

コラージュアートはあなたの頭の中に広がるクリエーションを即興的に表現したり、常識にとらわれない自由な発想で異素材を組み合わせる楽しみがある現代絵画技法の一つです。

素材の切り貼りにとどまらず、時には針や糸をも使い、新たなクリエーションの扉を開けましょう！音楽をかけて創造力を解き自由なアートの時間を堪能しましょう！

【ヒンメリとは？】
太陽とのつながりを感じるものとして「光のモービル」と呼ばれています。幸せを呼ぶ力があると言われており日常的に食卓やゆりかごの上などに吊るし、幸福を願うために飾られています。美しい幾何学のデザインが幻想的に揺れ、眺めているだけで心が癒されます。
