グループの特徴
We are people interested in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) topics and how these intersect with society, culture and startups. This group is co-managed by organizers from Space Cafe Tokyo and Nerd Nite Tokyo, which each have monthly events. Other organizers and ideas are welcome -- get in touch!

日本語の説明は下記にございます!
Every month, we gather some smart speakers and a curious crowd, add a bar, and create something unique. This month, we’re in Sugamo with a talk on the potential of planetary atmospheres light-years away in space. Plus, we have cafe food and craft beer on tap!
Our speaker is Sophia University professor Fuyutsuki Seba:
> Recent developments in astronomy and astronomical observations have, or will soon have, the ability to study the composition of planetary atmospheres outside the Solar System. By examining the chemical components of many distant planets, the next generation of scientists will be able to discern processes, from geological to biological, creating a unique mosaic for each planet. What would biological systems, if any, on these planets contribute to their own mosaics? What would the resulting picture be when multiple mosaics are stitched together?
Drinks (both alcoholic and non) as well as food will be available. Check out the menu here and come early; we’re opening the doors at 7 PM. Drink, meet, and be square-y! Kids are also welcome at Nerd Nite.
You can also find our event information on Facebook and our website; check our homepage's sidebar for all of our social media and mailing lists.
Speakers:
- Fuyutsuki Seba (Laboratory of Planetary Atmospheric Chemistry) (CO World) — From Molecules to Atmospheres and What They Reveal About Planets Far Away
- Please note that Ana da Silva’s previously announced talk will be rescheduled for a later date.
When: November 15 (Friday), doors open 19:00, start 20:00
Where: Ryozan Park Lounge / Cafe Port Glasgow in Sugamo (Google Maps)

"How did we come to be?"
How we came to be has been a millennia-long question for humankind. We are making inroads into this question recently. We came from exploding starts that died billions of years ago. We’ve learned how gold was made. But we don’t know yet what made the stars; could it be 'dark matter'? And what planted the seeds for everything in the cosmos?
Speaker info:
Space Cafe Tokyo is excited to welcome a special guest, world-renowned physicist and science communicator Hitoshi Murayama (UC Berkeley / Kavli IPMU U. Tokyo). He was born in Japan, grew up in Germany, and lives in the US. He received Ph.D. at the University of Tokyo, and now a professor at the University of California Berkeley. He is the founding director and professor of the Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe at the University of Tokyo. He never managed to grow out of childlike curiosity asking stupid questions.
