Dec 8, 10 AM ~ The Carillon to Reedy Creek Landing Hike

This 4.6 mile hike begins in the parking lot that services Dogwood Dell and The Carillon in Byrd Park. We will make our way from the Carillon to the 1881 Pump House and after crossing the river on the Boulevard Bridge we will take on some of the most challenging parts of the Buttermilk Trail until we reach Reedy Creek Landing. The mid-day sun overhead should perfectly illuminate the CSX A-Line Bridge so be ready to capture one of the great views of the river with a photo.

We will return to the Nickel Bridge by way of the service road/western extension of Reedy Creek Trail. This is a hike of approximately 5 miles over improved woodland trails, paved surfaces and, in places, steep ascents.

Water bottle, clothing appropriate for the season, headgear, practical footwear, band aids.

• Rudimentary restroom facilities are available at the Pump House and Reedy Creek Landing.
• Ample parking is available in the lot that services Dogwood Dell.
• Water is available at the Pump House parking lot and at Reedy Creek in season.
• This hike will begin at the posted time, not five or ten minutes later. If you are unfamiliar with the meet up location, add a few minutes to your travel schedule so you can find us. When you select "Directions" (upper left) the best route from your location to the Meet Up rendezvous spot will be calculated for you.
• Before the hike be sure to place anything that might invite theft in your trunk before you leave your car parked while you are hiking.
• Participants should be able to maintain a pace of 2.5 miles per hour and possess the ability to negotiate rocks, roots, low hanging branches, uncertain footing on hills, bridges and toxic plants in season.
